OUR PATH FOR THE FUTURE
The Board of Directors undertook a strategic planning process in 2002-2003 to identify, evaluate and determine the existing and future environments of service provision. The process was designed to solicit feedback and input from a variety of stakeholders including people receiving services, family members, and community partners.
The information was collected and in concert with a strategic planning day developed into an organizational PATH. This was reviewed in February 2007, and six areas of focus were identified along with an updated Vision and Mission Statement.
OUR VALUES and BELIEFS
COMPASSION: We believe that quality support is based on dedicated people working in collaborative relationships pursuing a common vision.
COMMUNICATION: We believe open communication is the foundation of effective relationships.
CREATIVITY: We believe creativity enables us to overcome challenges.
CONSISTENCY: We believe consistency fosters growth and independence within communities and individual relationships.
RESPECT: We believe that respect for diversity fosters growth in people.
PERSONAL GROWTH: We believe personal growth contributes to innovative thinking and action.

SIX AREAS OF FOCUS
1. Person-Centered Planning
Service planning, coordination and delivery for each person receiving services will be person-centred.
It means asking people what they want and organizing supports to facilitate the achievement of their goals. It means offering assistance where it is needed and realizing that there are also times when support may not be required. It means respecting the individual's right to make informed choices.
2. Accountability
Develop and implement an accountability framework that reports to stakeholders on outcomes in each of four components:
Service Quality
Service Outcomes
Financial Integrity
Organizational Effectiveness
Crest will work diligently towards implementing all necessary organizational assurances. This means quality enhancement will take place in the areas of Leadership, Systems and Quality Management, and Planning Efforts. Organizational assurances include health, safety, and welfare as well as fiscal and legal accountability. This recognizes that quality assurance is not an event but a continuous process. It also means we recognize the obligation to report to our stakeholders.
People Choose Services
3. Human Resource Development
Recruit, develop and retain a knowledgeable, trained and competent complement of human resources.
Improve and Enhance Recruitment Strategies
Provide Appropriate Educational and Training Opportunities
Develop and promote a professional Approach to Organizational Activities
This means that staff development and retention are a priority, and that creative thinking and innovative actions are required for cutting edge Human Resource development.
4. Build and Develop Community Capacity through Partnerships, Collaboration and Volunteerism
Participate in community consultations aimed at identifying and removing barriers to inclusion
Advocate with and on behalf of persons with disabilities for improved income supports, quality housing and employment opportunities
Crest Support Services will work with community partners to ensure persons with disabilities access and participate as full citizens.
People Choose Personal Goals
5. Expand and Enhance Services to Meet Needs and Demands
Review and adapt existing supports and services to ensure relevance
Develop proposals as necessary to access resources to improve and enhance existing services
Respond to calls for proposals from the funding ministries, to develop and implement new services
Create, develop and implement new and innovative services and supports
Crest will work with individuals, families, community partners and funders to identify service gaps, develop services in response to need and demand, and ensure existing services are responsive to needs
6. Develop and Implement a Public Relations and Fund Development Strategy
Crest Support Services recognizes that operational budgets have limitations and restrictions, and that additional financial resources are required to address current and future needs.
Through the involvement of internal and external stakeholders, inform and educate the community about Crest Support Services and persons with mental illnesses and developmental disabilities.
Utilizing a formal approach, develop and undertake a range of actions and events aimed at raising financial resources for the organizational undertakings.

Beyond...
It is exciting to know that we have a PATH for the future and we look forward to sharing our successes as well as the challenges with all our stakeholders and partners.
Our vision for the future is about growth and inclusion. It is about a future where all people regardless of their (dis)ability are able to live, work and play in their communities.
Our mission is to continue to empower adults with developmental and/or mental health disabilities to actualize citizenship. To achieve this outcome, Crest Support Services involves each individual in identifying and prioritizing outcomes, as they plan and dream about their future. Crest Support Services is committed to facilitating and respecting individual choice.
Our organization will continue to evolve and grow and recognize that change is the only constant. We will continue to Reach beyond our walls and build new, productive and innovative partnerships in various communities. We will be accountable to those we serve, our members and the community.
While our goals and objectives may change over time, our Mission, Vision and Values will continue to remain the solid foundation that will lead us into the future.

REACH beyond
Our Past
A belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live at the crest of life and never walk alone brought these volunteers together. They formed the first Board of Directors for what was then known as Meadowcrest . . . later The Crest Centre, and which continues to grow today.
