Finding the right support can be overwhelming especially when you’re navigating mental health challenges, developmental disabilities, or major life changes. Many adults and families don’t know where to start, who to call, or what services are available to them locally.
That’s why 211 is such an important resource in our community.
211 is a free, confidential service that helps people connect to community and social supports. By dialing 2-1-1 or visiting 211.ca, individuals can speak with trained navigators who listen, ask questions, and help identify services that meet their needs.
Supports may include:
Mental health and crisis resources
Disability and developmental services
Housing and income supports
Food programs
Caregiver and family supports
Community and social programs
211 is available 24/7, in multiple languages, and is designed to reduce the stress of trying to navigate complex systems alone.
Adults with mental illness and developmental disabilities often face additional barriers when trying to access services. Information can be fragmented, eligibility rules can be confusing, and systems don’t always communicate with each other.
211 helps bridge those gaps by:
Providing clear, accessible information
Offering person-to-person support, not just a list of phone numbers
Connecting people to local services
Supporting both individuals and their families or caregivers
Every year on February 11 (211 Day), organizations across Canada help spread the word about this vital service. But awareness matters all year long. When more people know about 211, fewer people fall through the cracks, and more individuals can access the support they deserve when they need it.
At Crest Support Services, we believe everyone deserves dignity, inclusion, and access to the supports that help them live full and meaningful lives. Sharing resources like 211 is one small but important way we can strengthen our community and support mental health and well-being.
